I took a series of shots of my boots and, of all of them, this one was definitely my favorite. My apartment is a pretty peaceful place in the early evenings and, more so than any other shot I've taken here, the feeling in this picture reflects that. And it also features a few of my favorite things: those boots and the chairs.

Bud Ellis thought the city of Chattanooga needed a carousel. So, he and his students at Soddy-Daisy, TN's Horsin' Around, a carousel animal-carving school, went to work. All of the animals on the ride--which spins in the heart of the city's park--were carved under Ellis' watch.
